David Hoffman

David William Hoffman, 88, of Ralston, Nebraska passed away on December 3, 2025 at Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska.  He was born on March 20, 1937 in Omaha, Nebraska to Vernon and Erna (Rinne) Hoffman.

He attended grade school in Steinauer, Nebraska and graduated from Pawnee City High School in 1954. He served in the Army from 1956-1957. David graduated from Peru State College with a Bachelor of Arts in education and then received his Masters Degree in Special Education from the University of Nebraska in Omaha. He spent his early years in education, teaching and coaching football, basketball and track.  David then taught in the Omaha Public Schools before completing his teaching career in Council Bluffs Public Schools.

He married Nancy Werner in Council Bluffs, Iowa and to this union one daughter Casey was born.

David was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ in Steinauer, Nebraska.  He loved all animals, especially dogs and cats. David liked going to races at Aksarben in Omaha, Nebraska football, pheasant and quail hunting, music and especially Barbershop Quartet.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Erna Hoffman, brother Jerry and numerous beloved dogs and cats.

David is survived by his wife Nancy, daughter Casey Hoffman, brother, Steve Hoffman of Overland, KS, sister, Karen of Amarillo, TX, sister-in-law, Carol Hoffman of Tuscaloosa, AL, nieces and nephews, John, Cara, Anne, Lisa, Emily and Alex, numerous cousins, and also by his adored pets, Pickles, Barclay, Sassy and Sawyer.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2026 at the Salem United Church of Christ, rural Steinauer, Nebraska with Pastors Michael Row and Ken Tubbesing officiating.

Memorials may go to the family's choice for a later designation.

Private family burial will be held at a later date in the Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery, rural Steinauer, Nebraska.
