Daniel J. Sears

Daniel James Sears, 61, of Sterling, passed away October 5, 2022 at his home in Sterling, Nebraska.  He was the youngest of nine children born to Charles and Marie (Conradt) Sears on July 25, 1961.  He was married on June 11, 1988 to Sarah Lade and raised three sons.

Dan's spiritual home was the woods, the fields and the ponds and lakes of Nebraska.  The mist and early light of sunrise, the glow of a sunset on the water, the sight of the deer emerging from the timber into the pasture, the soaring flight of an eagle; these were the things that fed his soul.

He took great pride in his garden and the bounty that it would produce.  Dan was a craftsman who could build furniture or re-imagine and re-purpose objects along with his wife Sarah.  Dan had an amazing work ethic and a kind and giving heart.  Dan was a beloved husband, dad, brother and friend to many.  He will be greatly missed.  

Dan is survived by his wife Sarah, sons, Shane Sears and wife Tonya (Daniels) and their daughter Aurora, Franklin Boyer Sears and wife Lacee (Neemeyer) and their children Grace, Sophia, Charlie and Benjamin and Richard Sears and wife Diana (DuBois), sisters and spouses: Lois (Ken) Rosenthal, Pat (Mike DeVine) Lipps, Jan (Jordon) Pettus, Rita (Bobby) Logan, Charlotte (Greg) Bowen, Marilyn (Eldon) Mannschreck, Liz (Tim) Fox and brother and spouse Tom (Bev) Sears and many nieces and nephews and numerous brothers and sisters in law and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.    

Private family services will be held.
