Cindy Kay (Yates) Bowersmith

Cindy Kay (Yates) Bowersmith was born to Jack and Joan (Gardner) Yates, Sr. on December 15, 1962 in Long Beach, California.  She moved with her family back to the southeast Nebraska area.  She graduated from Tecumseh High School. 

She was united in marriage to Ronnie Uchytil and to this union were born Natasha and Jessie.  She then married Merlin Mills and they were the parents of Brandon. She found her soul mate, Dale Bowersmith in 2003 and they were married in 2010.  Her family grew with the addition of two daughters, Heather and Deana.

Cindy’s favorite color was red.  She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and collecting red Avon dishes, bulls and apples.  Cindy had worked for the Campbell Soup Company in earlier years, in the laundry and housekeeping department at the Prestige Care Center in Nebraska City and was working for Cargill at the time of her death. 

Cindy passed away suddenly after a brief illness on March 20, 2022 at the age of 59 years.

She is survived by her husband Dale of Nebraska City, daughters Natasha Dobbins and husband James of Eagle, Jessie Boeche and husband Andrew of Lincoln, son, Brandon Mills and wife Ashley of Unadilla and Heather and Deana Bowersmith of Lincoln, mother, Joan Yates of Tecumseh, brothers, Lawrence, Jim and Chris of Tecumseh, sister Sheila Yates-Vuu and husband Thang of Lincoln, 14 grandchildren, 8 nieces and nephews and 6 great nieces and great nephews, many friends and special friend Karena Reeves. 

Cindy was preceded in death by her husband Merlin Mills, father Jack Yates, brother, Jack, Jr. and grandson Phoenix Dobbins. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2022 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Pastor Terry Weible officiating. The service is livestreamed on the Wherry Mortuary/Wherry Monument Facebook page and a link to the livestream is also available on the bottom of Cindy's webpage. 

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2022 with the family greeting friends during this time and one hour prior to the service at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska.
