Carolyn Louise Kroll was born to Orville and Clara (Heideman) Baucke on January 5, 1941 on a farm near Tecumseh, Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Tecumseh. She walked to rural country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Tecumseh High School. She loved being outside helping dad on the farm while her sister helped mom in the house. Aunt Lily lived with them on the farm. After high school Carolyn worked cleaning houses in Tecumseh. She loved going to dances, especially polka dances.
She met future husband Leonard Thomas Kroll while he was still in the military. They were united in marriage in Iowa on August 29, 1959. To this union seven children were born. Carolyn became a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church after their marriage. She was an active member of the St. Mary’s Altar Society. Carolyn and Leonard raised their family on the farm beginning with no running water, so she carried it from the well. At one time she had five children and babies under the age of seven. Carolyn would always rather be on the tractor than in the house cleaning and cooking, but she was a very good cook. She was known for her famous chili soup, pink stuff, and her pot of noodles. Leonard passed away January 27, 1994. After Leonard’s passing, Carolyn went to work part-time as a secretary/bookkeeper for Field Ford in Tecumseh, working with Chris Hindera for many years. Carolyn loved taking care of her grandkids, being with family and being outdoors watching nature.
When her health declined, Carolyn moved to Gold Crest in Adams, Nebraska. She passed away there June 19, 2023 at the age of 82 years.
