Carol Joan Bischoff September 21, 1945 -- October 18, 2024
Carol Bischoff, 79, passed away Friday, October 18, 2024 after a hard-fought 18-month battle against metastatic liver cancer. She was born September 21, 1945 in Tecumseh, Nebraska.
Carol grew up on a farm in Tecumseh, where she contributed to all aspects of farm work with her parents and her brother. She attended the District 49 one-room country school for eight years, where she was always the only student in her grade, and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1963. At the University of Nebraska, she was named a Mortar Board for scholarship, leadership and service. Her brother John died while serving as a fighter pilot in Vietnam in 1967, a devastating loss. Carol had a 20-year career in student personnel administration at UW-Oshkosh, Pitt-Bradford, SUNY-Binghampton, Texas Women's University and the University of NH. While at UNH, she married Dick Davis, and earned an MBA. After the birth of her daughter, she had a 15-year second career at UNH as a counselor.
Carol loved to travel; she circled the globe three times, twice by plane and once by ship, plus dozens of additional international trips. Over her lifetime she visited all seven continents, finishing with Antarctica in 2008. Carol loved growing vegetables in her garden; baking for her friends, family and church; and keeping in touch with her many friends and family.
Carol is survived by her husband of 40 years, Richard Davis, and one daughter, Diana Davis (Margo Angelopoulos) of Exeter, NH, and a newborn granddaughter, Navy; beloved stepchildren and -grandchildren Scott Davis (Karen), Ethan and Carlee of Bow, NH, and Karen Wiens (Jeff), Holden, Cooper and Stella of Fairplay, CO; and cousins Bill Miller, Scott Miller, Pat Miller, Dale Miller, Wilma Stark, Lois Deming, and Judy Siel. She was predeceased by her parents, Arnold and Leona (Miller) Bischoff; her brother, John Bischoff; and cousins Roger Miller, Paul Beethe and Kathleen Ernest.
Carol's wishes were to be cremated, with her remains interred in the Tecumseh Cemetery next to her parents and brother. A graveside service will be held on March 22, 2025 at 3:00 p.m., with Rev. Marcel Kohlmeyer officiating. A meal to follow in the St. John's Lutheran Church basement. All are welcome.
