Brandy Melissa James

Brandy Melissa James, 49, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on October 24, 1974, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Darrell and Phyllis (Young) Vandalsen.  Brandy grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas before moving with her family to Beeville, Texas where she attended school and graduated from Beeville High School.  She later moved to Corpus Christi, Texas to be closer to family.  While living there, Brandy met Shannon James while they were both attending vocational school to become medical assistants.  On April 1, 2011, Brandy and Shannon were united in marriage in Corpus Christi, Texas and to this union two sons, Indigo and Vader were born.  The couple moved their family from Texas to Nebraska where they lived in Stella and Pawnee City before settling in Humboldt.  Brandy worked at HTRS public schools in Humboldt as a paraprofessional and was a kind-hearted, generous, loving person who had a great love for all animals. 

Brandy passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the Pawnee County Memorial Hospital in Pawnee City, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of forty-nine years, eight months, and two days.  She is preceded in death by her father Darrell Vandalsen, mother Phyllis Benavides, and mother-in-law Kathleen James.

Brandy is survived by her loving husband Shannon James, sons Indigo and Vader James all of Humboldt, NE; numerous brothers and sisters, father-in-law David James of Cushing, ME; sister-in-law Christianne Ropp and husband Bill of Ohio, and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date and are not scheduled at this time.
