Bounthay Khanthasene, 83, of Tecumseh, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh, Nebraska. He was born on February 2, 1941 in Laos.
While in Laos, Bounthay was a high ranking military official and was captured and spent 5 years in a POW camp in Vietnam. Of the 2000 original captives, he was one of only 500 that survived. Bounthay and his wife moved to Tecumseh, Nebraska in the early 1980's to make a better life for themselves and their son Bonn. They both worked at the Campbell Soup Company for over 30 years until their retirement. In his later years, Bounthay enjoyed going to the casinos and fishing at the local state lakes with his wife Thongpane.
He is survived by wife loving wife Thongpane of Tecumseh and son Bonn of Lincoln, other relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2025 at the Wherry Mortuary, 202 N. 3rd Street in Tecumseh, Nebraska.
