Bonnie McDonald Obituary

Bonnie Lou (Hanna) McDonald was born August 23, 1941 to Willard and Dorothy (Wilcox) Hanna at Humboldt, Nebraska.  She was baptized and later confirmed February 21, 1953 at the Table Rock United Methodist Church.  Bonnie was raised by her grandparents William and Anna Hanna for the first ten or eleven years of her life because her mother and father traveled with the railroad. After she turned eleven Bonnie lived back at home with her parents, Willard and Dorothy in Table Rock.  She received her schooling at Table Rock High School.

Bonnie was united in marriage to Gary Lee McDonald on July 11, 1959 in Pawnee City, Nebraska by Rev. Wallace.  In the early days of the marriage, Gary and Bonnie traveled east due to Gary’s work, then settled back in Nebraska to start their family, living in Table Rock and later making their home in Tecumseh.  To this union, four sons were born.

Bonnie and Gary enjoyed riding their motorcycles earlier in life, just going out for rides.  They loved traveling to Branson for vacations in the summer, or whenever they could get away, and also going to the casinos.

Bonnie had numerous collections; Emmet Kelly clowns, Boyd’s Bears, jewelry, purses, and antiques.  She was the owner and operator of Bonnie’s Toning Shop.  Bonne also had a love for horses all of her life.  Through the years, she also had a love for many dogs, most recently her special dog, “Casey”, who she loved dearly for eleven years!  Due to Bonnie’s illness, Casey was lucky enough to be placed in a very loving home!  Gary passed away May 2, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Center in Auburn, Nebraska.

Bonnie passed away at her home in Tecumseh, Nebraska on May 9, 2020 at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 16 days.

She is survived by her sons, Mike McDonald and wife Roxanne of Tecumseh, Mark McDonald and wife Diane of Cook, Eric McDonald and wife Teresa of Sterling and Mat McDonald and special friend Sharon Chritton of Kansas City, MO, grandchildren, Julia, Nicole, Jace, Brooke, Jesse, Kelsey, Chelsea, Erica, Tanner, Ashlynn, Sam, Hanna, Emily and Olivia, 16 great-grandchildren, sisters, Deb (Hanna) Wiebe and husband Roland of Table Rock, Anna Hanna of Nevada and Amy (Hanna) Klepper and husband Steven of Bern, KS, brother, Scott Hanna and wife Carla of Pawnee City, brothers and sisters in law, Gene McDonald and wife Marge of Lincoln, Linda Davis of Omaha and Geraine White of Port Townsend, WA, and many nieces and nephews.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and husband Gary McDonald.

Bonnie’s wishes were to be cremated.  A joint private memorial service for Bonnie and Gary will be held on May 23, 2020.   Gary and Bonnie will be inurned in the Table Rock Cemetery, Table Rock, Nebraska.
