Betty Lee (Lewis) Whitfield

Betty Lee Whitfield, 89, of Bellevue, Nebraska was born in Humboldt, Nebraska to Guy Sutton and Ethel (Howard) Lewis.  She graduated from Bratton Union High School with the class of 1953. Betty was united in marriage to Earl “Dean” Whitfield at The Christian Church in Humboldt, Nebraska.  To this union two sons, Dennis and Doug were born.

Betty passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha having reached the earthly age of eighty-nine years, ten months and twenty days.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dean, brothers: Harlan (Millie) Lewis, Donald (Pauline) Lewis, Paul (Margaret) Lewis, Tom (Janet) Lewis, Guy (Margie) Lewis; sisters: Martha Lewis and Rose Marie (Don) Rears, sister-in-law LaVerne “Perk” Kreglo, and brothers-in-law: Jerry Mehlin, Don and Ted Whitfield. 

Betty is survived by her sons: Dennis (Cyndi) Whitfield of Bellevue, Doug (Dana) Whitfield of Bellevue; grandchildren: Kyle (Ashley) Whitfield of Omaha, Tracy Whitfield of Bellevue, Dean (Morgan) Whitfield of Omaha, Danny Whitfield and fiancé Brooklyn Krause of Hampton NE; great-grandchildren Hollis and Alton Whitfield of Omaha, her sister Bonnie Mehlin of Fremont, NE; brothers-in-law Larry “Butch” (Rita) Whitfield of Bellevue and Alan Kreglo of Kansas City, MO; sister-in-law Verna Whitfield of Omaha and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at The Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Howard Blecha officiating.

Interment will follow services at the Pleasant View Cemetery in rural Humboldt.
