Betty J. (Bock) Thomas

Betty JoAnn (Bock) Thomas of Liberty, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the Pawnee County Hospital. Betty was born February 22, 1941 to Leslie A. and Mabel M. (Heuppelsheuser) Bock at their home in rural Pawnee County Nebraska.  She was baptized and later confirmed at the Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church in Bern, Kansas. Betty attended grade school at rural East Star School and attended high school at Pawnee City High School. 

After high school Betty attended Lincoln General Hospital School of Nursing from 1958-1961, graduating with an RN diploma degree. She practiced her nursing profession all of her life until retiring in December, 2007.

On September 17,1961 Betty married Darrell E. Thomas. To this union two children were born, a son Ricky Lee, August 1, 1962 and daughter, Kimberly Ann, September 18, 1963.  

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, husband Darrell, sister and brother-in-law Georgia and Henry Sanders, sister-in-law Norma Bock, brother-in-law and wife Ron and Daisy Thomas, brother-in-law and wife Byford and Beverly Thomas and son-in-law Dave Pickerel.

Survivors include her children, Rick Thomas and wife Patty of Beatrice and Kim Pickerel of Lincoln, grandchildren, Daniel (Kayla) Pfingsten, Dillon (Jordan) Pfingsten, Garrett Pfingsten, Jeremy Thomas, Brittany Thomas, Taylor (Karrie) Pickerel and Alex and Mike Pickerel, great grandchildren, Emmy Kay Pfingsten and Lily, Talon and Leighton Pickerel, brother Clifford Bock, numerous nephews and nieces, family and friends, as well as all her special nurses in her life.

Services 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 26, 2019 at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska.  Officiating Asera Care Chaplain Doug Delhay.

Visitation on Thursday, July 25, 2019 from Noon-8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at Wherry Mortuary, Pawnee City, Nebraska. 

Interment at the Pawnee City Cemetery, Pawnee City, Nebraska.

Memorials in Betty’s name to be directed towards the Pawnee County Medical Foundation.
