Becky Rae Eichenberger, 73, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026 with her family by her bedside at the Pawnee County Memorial Hospital, Pawnee City, Nebraska. She was born November 23, 1952 to Arthur and Audree (Siders) Benash in O'Neill, Nebraska. She and her twin brother, Bruce Benash, were the first set of twins born in O’Neill, a distinction the family cherished. Becky was raised in Nebraska and attended Beatrice High School in Beatrice, where she formed the values of hard work, family, and care for others that guided her throughout her life.
She married Mitchell Paul Shera. To this union, four children were born, Mitchell, Angie, Jeremy and Craig.
Becky was united in marriage on February 2, 2002 to Dale Lee Eichenberger at the Salem UCC, Steinauer, Nebraska.
She lived her life as a caretaker in every sense, through both her work and her family. Becky was our place of safety and our guide—not only our compass, but our anchor—steady and grounding through every season of life. In moments of uncertainty or need, she was the one we turned to for wisdom, comfort, and reassurance. Becky's quiet strength, unwavering presence, and boundless care shaped the lives of all who were blessed to know her.
In her earlier years, Becky found joy in bowling and was an avid gardener, tending lovingly to her garden—memories many of her family hold dear. She also had a deep love for animals, offering them the same gentle care she gave to those around her. In retirement, Becky enjoyed keeping her mind sharp and staying connected through her daily games of Words With Friends, a quiet pleasure that brought her comfort and joy.
She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Dale Lee Eichenberger, brothers: Mark Benash and Dennis Benash, children: Mitchell Paul Shera II, Angie Rae Shera, Jeremy Jo Shera, and Craig Arthur Shera, grandchildren: Skyler Eugene Salts, Shaylyn Rae Salts, Shawn Paul Salts, Alexandra Lily McMurry, Adam Joseph McMurry and Mitchell Paul Shera III and great-grandchildren Lilith Rae Salts, and Coralynn Jo Salts.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur who passed from cancer and Audree who died from an accident and two brothers Bruce Benash and Charles “Chuck” Benash.
“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
