Anthony "Tony" F. Sramcik

Anthony Francis Sramcik was born to Daniel and Evelyn (Lavagnino) Sramcik on February 10, 1955 in Beaufort, S.C.  His father was a Marine so the family moved around a lot during his younger years.  They moved to Nebraska when he was 6 years old.  He attended Catholic parochial school in Lincoln until his parents bought their farm near Crete and Tony graduated from Crete High School in 1974. 

Tony was united in marriage to Judy Siems on March 10, 1979 at the Capital City Christian Church in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Judy passed away April 4, 2018 at Sterling, Nebraska. 

Tony was a fur trapper and he would spend from October- April by Broken Bow trapping muskrat, mink and coons.  He then worked as an auto mechanic in Kansas City. Upon returning to Nebraska, he started his own Tony’s Handyman Service.  Tony loved hunting deer and elk, fishing and woodworking.  He loved working with his hands doing carpentry.   Tony was a lifelong Catholic and his faith was very important to him.  Tony was a devoted husband taking care of his wife Judy during her cancer journey and also became a guardian for his sister Bernadette after the death of his parents. 

Tony fought his own cancer for several years, but eventually succumbed to the disease on June 13, 2025 at home near Sterling at the age of 70 years.

He is survived by his two daughters, Holley Barkin and husband Barry of New York and Katrina Holley and husband Preston of Carleton, five grandchildren and sister Bernadette Sramcik.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, wife Judy, son Zechariah, daughter Zellie, twin infant sisters and one brother.

Mass of Christian Burial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2025 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Mary, Nebraska.  Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. The link to the livestream is available here: https://www.facebook.com/100057240888156/videos/1433370771240542/

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2025 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska.

Memorials may go to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Interment will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, St. Mary, Nebraska.
