Amy Borrenpohl Obituary

Amy Lynn Borrenpohl was born to Keith and Marlene (Roos) Volkmer on November 1, 1967 in Crete, Nebraska.  In her early years, she moved with her family to several different places in northwest Iowa, her favorite being Lake Park, where their home was 30 feet off of Silver Lake.  She began her schooling in Iowa and the family moved to Tecumseh, Nebraska when Amy was in the 4th grade.  She graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1986.  She furthered her education at SCC Beatrice where she received her Associates Degree in Accounting.

Amy was united in marriage to John Borrenpohl on August 13, 1994 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Tecumseh, Nebraska.  They made their home northeast of Tecumseh, Nebraska. She loved working with John and living in the country.

Amy used her degree working for Dempster’s in Beatrice for twenty years.  She then assisted John working on the farm and went to work as the church secretary for St. John’s Lutheran in Tecumseh and also for American Lawncare in Auburn.

She was raised in the Catholic faith and joined St. John’s Lutheran Church after their marriage.  She was very dedicated to serving St. John’s and their preschool.  Amy enjoyed being involved and helping others, was a people person and had a bubbly personality.   Amy loved animals, especially her cats and baby calves and spending time with her nieces and nephews.  She loved following Husker football and she and John enjoyed traveling to bowl games together.  After a brief illness, Amy passed away October 23, 2023 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 55 years.

She is survived by her husband John, sister Colleen Volkmer of Brownville, brothers Kent Volkmer and wife Lorie of Auburn and Brian Volkmer of Nebraska City, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Judi Borrenpohl of Tecumseh, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, Kevin and Chelsea Volkmer, Sara and Gerard Zak, Chelsea and Luke Castner, Zach Borrenpohl, Marissa Borrenpohl and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
