Alice Lura (Anderson) Stahl, 82, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on June 18, 1943, in Gardner, Massachusetts to Martin and Alice (Cox) Anderson. Alice lived in Massachusetts most of her life. She was united in marriage to Len Stahl briefly before the couple divorced. Alice was an excellent floral designer and worked as such since the age of sixteen. Alice retired from Debonis Florist in Fitchburg, Massachusetts and worked in real estate accounting at Mass Mutual for several years. She loved living in her cozy cottage for years on Lower Naukeag Lake in Ashburnham, Massachusetts prior to her move to Nebraska in 2019 to be closer to family.
Alice loved to travel. One of her favorite trips was skiing in Switzerland, but she did enjoy her trips to visit family in Nebraska, Ohio, Florida, or St. Maarten. Alice loved life, kids, and animals. Since moving to Nebraska, she enjoyed spending time with her family and watching her niece’s activities.
Alice passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of eighty-two years, two months, and nineteen days. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfathers Clifford Risley and Dr. E.M. Shurtleff, and brothers E.W. Shurtleff and Martin (Judy) Anderson.
Alice is survived by her sisters: Mickie Bigiaoui and husband Pierre of St. Maarten, George Geier and Gene of Humboldt, NE; Maggi Shurtleff of St. Maarten, nieces: Janice Ingle and husband Larry of Ohio, Jackie Chesterson and husband Patrick of Ohio, Debbie Guthrie and husband Kirk of Florida, Kari Bredemeier and husband Steve of Humboldt, NE; nephews: Marty Anderson and wife Donna of Ohio, Jerry Anderson and wife Jaime of Florida, Jason Hand and wife Susan of Ohio, numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews in Ohio, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, and Humboldt, Nebraska.
A Celebration of Alice’s Life will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the shelter west of the swimming pool in Humboldt Park. Private Family Inurnment will be at the Pleasant View Cemetery in rural Humboldt.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to spoil an animal of your choice in Alice’s memory.
