Aladene Buente Obituary

Aladene B. Buente, daughter of Conrad Buente and Clara (Gottula), was born on April 26, 1925 in rural Pawnee County, near Steinauer, Nebraska along with her twin sister Arlene.  Aladene was called to the Lord on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the age of 95 years, 10 months and 27 days.

Aladene lived on the family farm with her parents, brother Ervin and sisters Norma and Arlene until the early death of her mother on February 21, 1930. Following the passing of their mother, Aladene and Arlene lived with their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse and Martha (Buente) Burgert.  They became as sisters to the Burgert’s two children; Lillian (Mrs. Edmund Steiner) and Leo Burgert.  While living with the Burgert family, Aladene attended Pawnee County District #38 grade school.  Upon graduation of the eighth grade, Aladene and Arlene moved back to the family farm north of Steinauer.  Aladene graduated from Steinauer High School in 1944.

Following graduation, Aladene lived and worked on the family farm.  She also worked for various neighbors doing domestic duties to assist families with new born babies. Aladene was employed by Jerpes & Swanson prior to beginning employment with Campbell Soup Corporation in Tecumseh Nebraska.  Aladene’s career at Campbell Soup spanned over 43 years most of which she worked in the lab as a Laboratory Technician.  Aladene moved to Tecumseh in 1972 following the death of her father.

Aladene was a Christian and was devoted to God.  She was baptized and confirmed at Salem United Church of Christ near Steinauer, Nebraska.  Aladene was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Tecumseh.  Aladene was a caring and very giving person.  She loved her family and adored her great nieces Claire and Sophie.

Aladene’s passions included being with her sister Arlene and brother-in-law Marion Wolken, nephew Roger and wife Janet (Cassidy) Wolken, niece Linda Wolken, and great nieces Claire and husband Caleb Murray and Sophie Wolken.  She enjoyed traveling with her family and going on camping vacations.  Aladene enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, growing flowers, gardening and canning, cooking, making holiday candies and cookies.  She will always be remembered for her homemade cinnamon rolls.  Aladene was a true caregiver.  Following retirement from Campbell Soup Corp., Aladene moved to rural Johnson, Nebraska in order to care for both her sister Arlene and brother-in-law Marion Wolken; both of who were battling cancer.  After their passing, she remained living on the Wolken Family Farm near Johnson until November of 2016.

She always provided comfort to neighbors in need.  Aladene also enjoyed babysitting, attended sporting events at both Johnson and Tecumseh, playing card games, putting puzzles together, attending Campbell Soup employee retirement events, collecting both china and salt and pepper shakers, watching her nephew and nieces grow up, and being with family and friends.  Aladene moved to the Abbey Woods Nursing home in St. Joseph, Missouri on May 7, 2017, to be closer to her family.  Aladene passed away at the Nursing Home following a stroke she suffered in December 2020.

Aladene was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ervin Buente, sisters Norma Buente and Arlene (Buente) Wolken, brother-in-law Marion Wolken and niece Linda Wolken.

She is survived by her nephew Roger and wife Janet Wolken of Savannah, MO, great niece Claire (Wolken) and husband Caleb Murray of N. Kansas City, MO, and great niece Sophie Wolken of Springfield, MO.
