Willis Albert Russell

Willis Albert Russell, 66, of Tecumseh, passed away December 9, 2019 at Belle Terrace in Tecumseh, Nebraska.  He was born to Alexander and Dorothy (Posten) Russell on April 15, 1953.  Willie went to grade school in Lead, South Dakota and Thedford, Nebraska.  He graduated from Ansley High School.  After graduation, Willie worked for Paulson Construction and Palmer's Monument setting head stones.  He moved to Dunning, Nebraska and worked for James Reed on the ranch.  

He was married to Nelda Reed on April 10, 1976 at Broken Bow, Nebraska.  Willie and Nelda lived at Dunning where they had two children, Gena Lee and Brandon Tait. The family then moved to Lexington and Willie worked for Dougdale Meat Packing which later became Excel.  Two more children were born to this union, Sarha Ann and James Albert.  They moved to Loveland, CO and Willie worked for Champion Homes in Berthoud, CO.  Willie worked for Essex Crane where he did maintenance on Manitock Cranes. They returned to Broken Bow, NE and Willie worked for Lane Tractor Repair at Westerville, NE.  While working there, Willie suffered a heart attack and had to retire.  

Willie loved working on small motors, lawn mowers and cars.  His hobbies were fishing and hunting and he also bowled on a mixed and singles league over the years.  Willie was a past member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.  

He is survived by his wife Nelda Russell of Tecumseh, daughters, Gena Sprague and husband Thomas and Sarha Russell, sons, Brandon Russell and James Russell and wife Kelley (Mhoon) Russell all of Tecumseh, five granddaughters, Annamarie, Danica, Makenzy, Georgia and Cassidy Russell, sister Connie Moody and husband Wayne of Lusk, WY, sister-in-law, Sharon Russell of Clarks, NE and many nieces and nephews.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Agnes Simmonds, Alexander Russell, Georgia Holland, Betty Parker, Samuel Russell and an infant brother.   

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Rev. Hugh Giesbrecht officiating.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to the family's choice.
