Vivian Cockrell Obituary

Vivian Eva (Kroemer) Cockrell passed from this earth on April 11, 2018 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was born on July 8, 1957 to Evelyn (Fritch) Kroemer and Lavern Kroemer. She was baptized on September 22, 1967 at Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church of rural Bern, Kansas. Her confirmation verse was Hebrews 13:7 and was very important to her. She was raised on a farm north of Seneca, Kansas and loved being outdoors as a child. She attended kindergarten at Prairie Grove rural school and then Bern, Kansas schools from the first grade through the twelfth grade. She chose to further her education at North Central Kansas Vo-Tech at Beloit, Kansas.

On March 20, 1976 she was united in marriage to John (Jack) Sharpe at Friedens United Church of Christ. They divorced later but to this union a son, Joshua John Sharpe was born. On December 30, 1991 she was united in marriage to Donald Cockrell at Friedens United Church of Christ. They also later divorced. Vivian began working at the Maple Grove nursing home as kitchen help but became a CNA and continued to work there until it closed. She then began working as a CNA at the Pawnee Manor nursing home until her health made it impossible to continue working. Vivian was always interested in the happenings of the community and her church family. When visiting with her she inquired about your family members. She was anxious to get the Pawnee Republican and the Courier Tribune so that she could see what was going on and who was celebrating a birthday or an anniversary. She also looked forward to getting a church bulletin and her daily devotional because she enjoyed reading them.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Kroemer in 1995; her father, Lavern Kroemer in 2005; a sister, Audrey Ruth Butler in 2006 and Audrey’s husband Jerry;  aunts Janet Gottula and husband Zeno;  Shirley Branek and husband Vernon; Luella Rogers and husband Donald; and uncles Frank Graham; Arnold Fritch; Lawrence Kroemer and wife Melinda; and Leonard Kroemer and wife Verda.

Vivian is survived by her son, Joshua J Sharpe and wife Katie and grandson Jarrett of Mead, Nebraska; her brother, Norman Kroemer and wife Constance of Bern, Kansas; a niece, Rachel Kroemer of Seneca, Kansas; a nephew, Eric Reuter and wife Wendy of Table Rock, Nebraska; a niece, Wendy Mathers and husband Randy of Table Rock, Nebraska; aunts Bonita Schuster and husband Dennis of Lewiston, Nebraska; Carolyn Graham of Anchorage, Alaska; Dorothy Fritch of Cameron, Missouri; Dorothy Branek of Arkansas;  Luetta Binder of Seneca, Kansas; great aunts Dolores Cole of Kansas City Missouri and Violet Laun of Pawnee City; a sister-in-law Julia West of Lincoln, Nebraska and a lot of cousins, friends, and other relatives.
