Sylvia Louise LeBoeuf

Sylvia Louise (Fader) LeBoeuf, 81, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born in Spencer, Iowa to Garnet & Thelma (Barney) Fader.  She grew up and graduated from high school in Wentworth, SD.  In 1954, after graduation, Sylvia moved with her family to Lincoln, Nebraska where she attended Lincoln School of Commerce. She then worked as a secretary at the State Capitol for many years.  Sylvia was married to William Cooke on December 1, 1957.  To this union, 2 children were born – Terry and Todd.   She was a military wife and traveled the world, including the Philippines and Japan. The couple later divorced.

Sylvia’s mother, Thelma Fader, married Ralph Koeneke on January 11, 1966 and moved to Ralph’s farm outside of Humboldt.  Sylvia retired in 1998 after 44 years of working various office jobs.  She and family came to Humboldt at least once per year for family vacations and in 1999, Sylvia made Humboldt her home.  She then worked as a children’s librarian at Lydia Bruun Memorial Library in Humboldt from 2001-2005.  Sylvia was a member of the Humboldt United Methodist Church and Rebekah’s Crescent Lodge #100 where she was the Noble Grand Crescent in 2005. In 2014, Sylvia made Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt her final home.  It was there she lost her battle with life on Friday, April 6, 2018, having reached the earthly age of eighty-one years, six months, and nine days.  Sylvia was preceded in death by her father, Garnet Fader; her mother Thelma (Ralph) Koeneke, former husband William Cooke, a grandson Jacon Cooke, and step-brothers Harold & Dean Koeneke. 

She is survived by her sons Terry (Michelle) Cooke of Cheyenne, WY; Todd Cooke (Frankie Vera Jr) of Myrtle Beach, SC; 3 grandchildren: Thyme Cooke of Cheyenne, WY; Myles and Amanda Cooke of Myrtle Beach, SC; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at the United Methodist Church in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Dorothy Smith officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018, at The Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt.

Inurnment will be at the Humboldt Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Bruun Memorial Library Fund.
