Steven G. Waring

Steven G. Waring was born to Keith and Juanita (Rice) Waring on November 30, 1945 in Fairbury, Nebraska.   He was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian Church.  He spent his early years growing up in Fairbury, but loved spending time playing with his cousins on the family dairy farm as well as in northern Nebraska. His father passed away in 1953 and shortly thereafter his mother accepted a promotion with LT & T and Juanita, Gary and Steve moved to Tecumseh, Nebraska.  The Waring’s were embraced by the community which allowed Steve to thrive academically and athletically.  Steve achieved numerous individual awards while taking great satisfaction in team accomplishments.  He graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1964 and attended Hastings College where he received his business degree in 1968 and also lettered in football for four years.

Steve was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Carol Ramsey at the First Baptist Church in Tecumseh on June 18, 1966.  This union was blessed with two children, Russell and Stephanie. 

Following their marriage, Steve worked in construction management and trim carpentry in Omaha.  He later worked many years in City Administration for Tecumseh, Broken Bow and Alma, NE.  During that time Steve made many close friends while serving the NE Executive Board of the League of Municipalities.  While Steve and Carol were members of the Presbyterian Church he served as Elder and Deacon.  In the past ten years, Steve and Carol were members of the Methodist Church. In his spare time Steve enjoyed playing and watching all sports and during his later years he especially loved watching his grandchildren participate in school activities and sports.  He loved playing golf and enjoyed many days on the course with family and friends. 

Steve passed away on August 10, 2018 at the age of 72 years. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Waring of Tecumseh, son, Russell Waring and wife Christy of Tecumseh, daughter, Stephanie Waring of Tecumseh, grandchildren, Mason, Eli and Jack Waring, Keaton, Kole and Kylie Kleespies, brother, Gary Waring and wife Sandy of Tecumseh, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Patricia Ramsey, Harland and Dianne Ramsey and Dr. Theodore and C.J. Evans and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Charlie P. Ettleman, parents-in-law, Russell and Eithel Ramsey, step-father-in-law, Arnold Doeden, brother-in-law, Jim Ramsey and sister-in-law, Betty Evans.  

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at the United Methodist Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Pastor Rob Clark officiating.

Visitation will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska, Monday, August 13, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials may go to the family’s choice.

Interment will be in the Tecumseh Cemetery, Tecumseh, Nebraska.
