Sharon M. (Schnittker) Snyder

Sharon Marie (Schnittker) Snyder was born to Donald and Darlene (Hothan) Schnittker on March 15, 1946.  She grew up on the farm north of Lincoln and moved with her family to California briefly until the family returned to Nebraska and farm life near Crab Orchard.  Sharon graduated from Lewiston High School.   

Sharon was united in marriage to Melvin Snyder, Jr. in 1965.  To this union one daughter, Yvonne was born.  Melvin and Sharon made their home in northwest Missouri.  The couple divorced after 20 years and Melvin passed away in 1996. Sharon got a job at Iowa State University and attended courses while working there.  She then got a job with the Internal Revenue Service and moved to Washington, DC and later transferred to Ogden, Utah where she retired as a program analyst. After retirement Sharon moved to Virginia for a year to be near her daughter Yvonne.

In 2009, Sharon moved back to Tecumseh and took care of her mother, Darlene until she passed away in 2017.  Sharon became a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed attending church functions and fellowship with her church family.  She was the treasurer of the church and loved helping with Awana, VBS and taught Sunday School. She was always willing to help where needed.  Sharon dearly loved her pets and animals.

She passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Bryan East Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 72 years.

Sharon is survived by her daughter Yvonne Tinney and husband Frank of South Chesterfield, VA and two grandchildren, Sophia and Charlie Tinney.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents.  

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 27, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Rev. Hugh Giesbrecht officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the Crab Orchard Cemetery, Crab Orchard, Nebraska.

A register book will be available from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska.
