Robert Johnson Obituary

Robert Charles “Bob” Johnson passed away Saturday evening, August 17, 2019, at home in DuBois, NE.  He was born on September 30, 1953, to Robert Guy and Margaret Kathleen (Ronan) Johnson in Redhill, Surrey, England. He was raised and educated in Banbury, Oxford, England.  He first came to the United States in 1969 for the holidays, returned in 1973 and became a permanent resident in 1974.

He married Ann Streit in Peoria, AZ, on July 1, 1985.  They made their home in Phoenix and owned and operated an adult care home for a number of years.  They later lived in Bern, KS, where Bob worked at Lortscher Agri Service.  Moving on to Kansas City, Bob was employed at ICOP Digital, Inc.  When the company sold in 2011, Bob transferred to Houston and remained working for Safety Vision, LLC as Senior Service Tech/ ICOP Specialist.  The company made cameras for law enforcement and Bob truly enjoyed working with the police. He took early retirement on May 1, 2018, due to ill health.  Bob and Ann moved to DuBois in May 2018. He loved the small communities and wanted to live near his in-laws.

A quiet man of many talents, Bob loved stamp collecting, antiquing and remodeling homes.  In his younger years he was part of a rock band in England where he mastered the guitar and continued playing the rest of his life.  Bob was also a very talented artist working with charcoals and graphite.  He was a big fan of English soccer. He had a great love for animals, especially cats, and often had several of them.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Jean Streit; and sister-in-law, Mavis Heiniger.

Bob is survived by his wife, Ann, at home; stepdaughter Mindy Stock and husband Tim; grandchildren Megan and Mat Stock, all of Summerville, SC; brother Steve Johnson of London, England; and niece Mandy Johnson of Portland, Oregon; father-in-law Charles Streit; brothers-in- law Marvin (Mary) Streit, Melvin (Sharon) Streit and Mark Heiniger; sisters-in-law Marylyn (Mark) Matthaei and Dolly (Rand Schafer) and families.
