Mario Colombi

Mario Colombi was born on April 7, 1941 in the small village of Capoliveri, Italy on the beautiful Island of Elba.  His parents were Vincenzo and Anita (Silvio) Colombi.  He graduated from high school in Italy and served for three years in the Italian Navy.  Mario learned culinary arts in Florence, Italy. 

   He met his future wife Pamela Maskrey on September 23, 1967 in Italy while she was on vacation.  They were married in St. Mary's Catholic Church in England on November 22, 1967.  They left the UK for the United States in 1980 starting in San Francisco, California.   Mario and Pam moved to Florida in 1987 and with their son James, opened Mario’s Cucina Toscana Restaurant in Madeira Beach, Florida, where Mario was the owner/operator and chef.  In his spare time, Mario was an avid golfer.  He and Pam sold the restaurant and retired to Steinauer, Nebraska in 2011 to be closer to family and due to Mario’s failing health.   Mario became a resident of Belle Terrace in Tecumseh and passed away there on September 30, 2017 at the age of 76 years.  Mario and Pam celebrated their 50th anniversary of the day that they met the week before Mario passed away. 

   Mario is survived by his wife, Pamela Colombi of Steinauer, children, Gabriella Lagemann and husband Jared of Park City, Utah, James Colombi and wife Pat of Lincoln and Stella Colombi of Yonkers, New York, five grandchildren, Evan Lagemann, Jace Lagemann, Ayden Colombi, Anthony Colombi and Kaitlyn Garrity, other relatives and friends.

   He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Adalberto.  

   Mass of Christian Burial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2017 at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Steinauer, Nebraska with Father Michael Christensen officiating.

   Visitation will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska, Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. at the church.

   Memorials may go to the family’s choice.
