Lois Eltiste Obituary

Lois Jean (Ebeler) Eltiste was born August 30, 1950 to Carl and Alvera (Bartels) Ebeler in Auburn, Nebraska.  She was baptized September 26, 1950 by Rev. Fruehling and confirmed June 7, 1964 by Rev. Carl Carlson at Martin Luther Church, rural Johnson, Nebraska. She attended Center School District #43 rural elementary school and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1968.  She later received her degree in the Food Service Supervisors Program at Southeast Community College in 1983.

She was a member of Martin Luther Church near Johnson until her marriage to Wayne Eltiste on September 14, 1968.  She then became a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Tecumseh.  To this union two sons were born, Craig and Doug.

Lois worked in numerous restaurants including the Ace Café, Archie’s Diner and Orbit Inn in Tecumseh and after her classes in Food Service became the head cook at the Maple Grove Home and also cooked at Lewiston Consolidated Schools.  She was an excellent cook and enjoyed trying new recipes and gaining new ideas through working in food service.  Lois also worked for Paint and Paper Pals and for the past several years she enjoyed “being a stay at home wife” even though she spent a lot of time on the road back and forth to town.

Lois was a huge Nebraska Cornhusker football and volleyball fan.  She also loved watching the National Football League games on t.v. no matter who was playing.  Lois enjoyed spending time with family and friends catching up on local “gossip” on the telephone or over coffee.  She truly enjoyed watching her grand children grow up and attending their school activities.  She may have even bragged a few times about them.  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved her family very much.

She passed away May 31, 2018 at the Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh at the age of 67 years.

Lois is survived by her husband Wayne of Tecumseh, sons, Craig Eltiste and wife Michelle of Tecumseh and Doug Eltiste and wife Vicki of Tecumseh, grandchildren, Payton Eltiste of Lincoln,  Mason Eltiste of Lincoln, Seth Laver of Bellevue and  JaeLynn Edwards of Lincoln, brothers, Eldon Ebeler and wife Kay of Crab Orchard and Ron Ebeler and wife Vera of Tecumseh, sister, Shirley McPherrin and husband Bob of Tecumseh, sister-in-law Gloria Durman and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Russ and Carolyn Eltiste and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Alvera, brother, Lonnie Ebeler, sister, Betty Workman and husband Bob and sister-in-law, Jean Ebeler.
