LeRoy Albert Koehler, 74, of Marysville, Kansas was born on November 21, 1944, in Humboldt, Nebraska to Clarence and Hulda (Alberts) Koehler. He was raised on the family farm near Humboldt and attended Bratton Union Consolidated Schools graduating with the class of 1963. He then continued his education attending Peru State College where he received a degree in Business Education. LeRoy then moved to Blue Rapids, Kansas where he taught at Valley Heights High School which was located between Blue Rapids and Waterville, Kansas. On August 14, 1976, LeRoy was united in marriage to Linda Glathar at the United Methodist Church in Humboldt, Nebraska. The couple moved to Marysville, Kansas where LeRoy sold life insurance and farmed part-time. He then went back to school and earned a Master’s Degree in Administration from Kansas State University. LeRoy then started doing tax preparation for a couple in Marysville and later bought the business from them. It was while owning his own business that LeRoy started filling in as a lay minister for the Church of Christ in Beatrice, Nebraska. He later became the full-time minister and served the Church of Christ for the last twenty years.
LeRoy went to be with his Lord on Friday, July 26, 2019, at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of seventy-four years, eight months and five days. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Delbert McMurray.
Those left to mourn LeRoy’s passing are his loving wife Linda of Marysville, KS; sisters: Marleen Mehlin and husband Merle of Humboldt, NE; Lorna McMurray of Adams, NE; Celma Higgins and husband Phil of New Virginia, IA; sister-in-law Donna Koehn of Humboldt, NE; brothers-in-law: Roger Glathar and wife Carol of Humboldt, NE; Charlie Glathar and wife DeAnn of Humboldt, NE; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2019, at the Church of Christ, 924 Grant Street in Beatrice, Nebraska with Rick Eldred officiating.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m.- 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at The Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt, Nebraska. Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m.
Graveside Committal Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2019, at the Humboldt Cemetery in Humboldt, Nebraska.
Memorials contributions may be given to the family’s choice with a later designation.
