Jodelle Elaine Janssen was born to George Gilbert and Mildred Mary (Gottula) Floerke on October 7, 1934 at Elk Creek, Nebraska. She lived with her parents on the Floerke farm east of Sterling where she attended country school through the first grade. She moved with her family to Tecumseh for 2 years, then Lincoln for 2 years, back to Tecumseh for 2 years while her father in the Army, for 2 years in Elk Creek and finally back to Tecumseh where she went all four years of high school. In all, Jodelle lived in nine different houses while she was growing up. She graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1952.
She was united in marriage to Alfred John Janssen on May 14, 1953 in Kansas. To this union three daughters were born. Al passed away November 22, 2007 while they were living in Brock, Nebraska.
Jodelle was a homemaker and also did book keeping and accounting. Throughout her life she was a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, and member of St. John’s Lutheran in Tecumseh. She played the organ for St. John’s until retiring and moving to Arizona.
In her spare time, Jodelle enjoyed reading, sewing and doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
Jodelle passed away September 15, 2018 in Tucson, Arizona at the age of 83 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Dee Dreyer and Laurie Willson and husband Kevin, grandchildren, Brittany Gaylord, Josie Sorres and husband Kyle, Alexander Dreyer, Cassandra Garcia and husband Alex, Christopher Janssen and wife Maile, Rianna, Nicholas and Karis Willson.
Jodelle was preceded in death by her parents, husband Al, and oldest daughter, Jan Alaine Gaylord, (April, 2007.)
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2019 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Rev. Robert Schermbeck officiating.
Inurnment will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Sterling, Nebraska.
