Jack Hinrichsen Obituary

Jack J Hinrichsen, 92, of Pawnee City, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at his home after a long hard fought battle with Kidney Failure. Jack was born on January 23, 1927 toJohn and Mildred (Reis) Hinrichsen at their farm home in Richfield, Nebraska.

Jack grew up in Richfield attending school through the 8th grade; then he began working at the sandpits until he was called to the Military. Jack was drafted by the Army and served from 1945 to 1946 during WWII. He served in the Philippine Islands as an MP on the base. He was under General McArthur’s command who passed through his watch many times.

On January 7, 1953 Jack and Shrie (Alderman) were united in marriage in Pawnee City, Nebraska. They just celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. To this union four children were born, Jack, Marvin, Susan and Dale. After they were married, Jack and Shrie lived and worked in Lincoln, Nebraska for a time. They then decided to start farming and moved to a farm south of Pawnee City where all four of their children were born. In March of 1961, they moved their family down the road to another farm which they later bought in 1968 and have resided there till this day.

Jack enjoyed working on the farm and did many side jobs to help support the family in his younger years. He worked for the power company helping install electric power throughout the county. He worked for Capital Bridge building bridges on some of the major highways. He laid cement blocks and bricks as a trade, and he did custom combining work for some of the local farmers. He enjoyed doing mechanical work and would work on his family’s and other relative’s vehicles, tractors, etc, even working on some neighbor’s tractors for hire, but his passion was to work on his own Allis Chalmers tractors.

Jack loved his family (children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchild) he especially liked to hold and carry the little ones in his arms.

Jack had many things he liked to do hunting, fishing, boating, and camping. He always loved camping with family and would go as often as he could. Jack will be missed by many, and many will miss that smile and twinkle Jack always had in his eyes.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mildred (Reis) Hinrichsen, daughter-in-law, Annette Hinrichsen, brothers, Bus (Wanda) Hinrichsen, Lester Hinrichsen, Ivan Hinrichsen, Douglas Hinrichsen, brother-in-law, Jim Ullman.
