Edwin Boman Obituary

Edwin “Eddie” David Boman, age 79 of Pawnee City, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019.

Eddie was born On September 15, 1939 to Edwin H. & Emma (Price) Boman in Sabetha, Kansas.

Growing up in Pawnee City, Nebraska, he graduated from Pawnee City High School in 1958.  During his early years and throughout his life Eddie was a person that cared for animals. As a young boy he had a pet pigeon named Dodo that he cared for and trained from infancy that went everywhere with him.  He even had him trained to walk to school with him on his shoulder and then fly home and “knew” when it was time school let out and would fly back to school then walk home with Eddie on his shoulder.  Eddie also had a special bond with every cat or dog he ever met, they just seemed drawn to him.

He lived and worked in Lincoln for many years doing performing many jobs for the community.  One of his occupations was working with the school district in Lincoln serving as a custodian of the Lincoln High School.

Enjoying traveling by road was one of Eddie’s favorite pastimes, visiting the desert southwest on many occasions to pan for gold and enjoy the desert climate and scenery before settling in Pawnee City near his mother and family.  He enjoyed going to auctions, collecting and fixing up old radios, CB’s, and scanners, as well as watching his extensive collection of old westerns, many of which featured his favorite actor John “The Duke” Wayne.  He never left the house without his famed rose- colored glasses, cowboy boots and hat, and was known for always ending every encounter with  “10-4” or “Over & Out”.  Eddie’s CB handle “Mr. Ed” was known by many when he was an active radio enthusiast year’s back.

Eddie was also very fond of old cars and telling tales of all the cars he had owned over the years to his many family and friends.  He never got his ’59 Cadillac, but dreamt of it daily.  He was a simple man with simple pleasures, and his constant grin and orneriness will be missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Boman is survived by 3 nephews: Jeffry Eckman of Waverly ,NE, Scott (Kim) Eckman of Duluth, MN, Stacy (Beverly) Maughan of Omaha, NE.  3 nieces: Kerry (Mark) Ryan of Raymond, NE, Linda Maughan-Hager of Waverly, NE, Lisa (Tony) Ruhge of Lincoln, NE. 10 great nieces & nephews, 8 great-great nieces & nephews, plus many cherished cousins and friends.

Proceeded in death by his parents, his only sister, Pauline Maughan, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
