Dorothy Parrish was born December 11, 1944 to John and Edna (Anderson) Flint in Blackfoot, Idaho. She entered this world surrounded by family as the youngest of 12 children. Dorothy left this world peacefully on February 1, 2019, again surrounded by family.
Dorothy moved to Elk Creek in 1971 and quickly became a part of the community. Many people remember her yearly Halloween surprise visits to the Elk Creek School, dressed as a witch or a spider to deliver home made goodies to the students. Dorothy was known for her cooking and held several jobs cooking in the area. One of her greatest joys was cooking at the Elk Creek School and at Scotty's Grocery. She was an avid animal lover and many strays found a loving, forever home with her over the years. Those who knew Dorothy, knew she was opinionated and wasn't afraid to tell you if she thought you were too full of yourself. She had no time for politics, hypocrisy or bad TV.
Dorothy loved to laugh, pull pranks and tell elaborate stories. She loved telling her young grandsons about the time she was a cabin girl on the Mayflower, or how she found Jesse James car buried in Elk Creek. Years later they realized that Granny was good at telling stories. Dorothy raised her family with love, humor and strength and proved that together no was too great to overcome.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, sisters, husband Keith and grandson Avery.
She is survived by her children, Brenda, Dale and wife Kim, Janet and husband Michael, Pati, Billy and Kyle and wife Carly, grandchildren, Cody, Lynette, Matthew, Skyler, Gabrielle, Brier, Ashton, Camren, Caleb, Natalie and Landon, great-granddaughter, Aleah and sisters, Donna, Betty and JoAnn.
Family meant everything to Dorothy. There will be a private family celebration of life at a later date and Dorothy's ashes will be taken to Blackfoot, Idaho so that she may rest where her life began.
