Donald Dean Coudeyras

Donald “Don” Dean Coudeyras, 73, of Burchard, Nebraska was born to Rene and Wilma (Kunc) Coudeyras on January 24, 1945 in Pawnee City, Nebraska.  He attended Liberty High School and was the last class graduating in 1963.  While in high school, Don was a standout basketball player.  After high school, he worked for a short time at Dempster’s in Beatrice before farming full time with his father and brother Doug.

  On August 1, 1969, Don was united in marriage to Janet Bredemeier at the Salem United Church of Christ in Steinauer, Nebraska.  To this union two sons, Kevin and Kent, were born.  Don was a lifelong farmer who was dedicated to his farm, family, livestock, and crops.  He served his country in the Army Reserves and was secretary for Burchard schools.  Don was a simple man, but very intelligent.  Everyone in his family benefited from his knowledge of numerous things and he often knew the answer others were searching for. 

Don was passionate about sports.  Whether it was playing town team basketball, watching his sons and grandchildren compete in their sports, or watching the Huskers athletics, he enjoyed all sports.  Don was a fan of the New York Yankees, Boston Celtics, and all Husker teams.  He attended several Husker volleyball games through the years.

Don passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska having reached the age of seventy-three years, seven months, and thirty days.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

 Don is survived by his loving wife of forty-nine years Janet, sons: Kevin (Cyndee) Coudeyras and Kent (Stephanie) Coudeyras all of Burchard, NE; grandchildren Jaiden and Dawson Coudeyras of Burchard, a sister Sharon (Harold) Klein of Lincoln, NE; brothers: Dave Coudeyras of Crete, NE; Dennis Coudeyras of Beatrice, NE and Doug (RoxAnn) Coudeyras of Liberty, NE; brothers-in-law Gerhart Bredemeier of Steinauer, NE and Roger (Cindy) Bredemeier of Littleton, CO; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2018, at the Salem United Church of Christ in Steinauer, Nebraska with Pastor Eric Biehl officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the Wherry Mortuary in Pawnee City, Nebraska.  Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment will be at the Lewiston Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Nebraska Army Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family’s choice with a later designation.
