Cheryth Klepper Obituary

On Sunday, June 9, 2019, at the age of 72, Cheryth Ann Klepper (Korber), loving wife, mother of three children, and grandmother of seven energetic grandsons, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family.

Cheryth was born September 30, 1946 in Pawnee City, Nebraska to Lyle and Frances (Cobb) Korber. On April 7, 1957, Cheryth was baptized within the DuBois Bible Church. At the age of 10, she was taught how to play the piano, continuing her skills as a church pianist for 40 years. She completed her schooling at Pawnee City High School, graduating May 26, 1964. After high school, Cheryth started her employment as the clerk assistant at the Pawnee County Courthouse for 5 years, while helping within the family business, the Parkside Drive-In.

On October 25, 1964, she married the love of her life, Jon David Klepper (because he looked like Elvis). Together they raised two daughters, Brenda and Melissa, and one son, Eric.

In August of 1969, Jon and Cheryth purchased their lifelong business, Klepper Oil. Through the 49 years, Cheryth enjoyed meeting and greeting the public, making friends wherever she went. She was the best bookkeeper our father could ever have had at a small wage.

Cheryth remained active within the Faith Baptist Church for 37 years, teaching Awana and playing the piano. In 2001, they started attending the DuBois Methodist Church. She grew up in a Christian home, where she continued to instill her faith, morals, values, and love for God within her family.

Cooking, baking, planting flowers, and spending time with her family were Cheryth’s favorite hobbies and interests. She will be remembered as “You never left the Klepper House hungry,” to “The Best Cook Around.” She was always sharing her goodies with customers, friends, and family. She was known as “the second mom” to all of her kids’ friends.

In September of 2016, Cheryth was diagnosed with Gastric Cancer. Through two different rounds of chemotherapy and multiple surgeries, she remained optimistic and strong willed, fighting to continue her time here on this earth. Throughout, her newfound hobbies were Pinterest, looking up new recipes, and watching all of the cooking food channels. During hospitalizations, Cheryth created lasting friendships with physicians and nurses. She continued completing her daily duties and baking for others up until April of 2019.

Cheryth is loved by many and will be greatly missed by all. She will be remembered for her kind heart, giving to others, and dedication to her family.

Cheryth was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Frances Korber, her in-laws, Kenneth and Bonita Klepper, and multiple brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. In 2006, Cheryth experienced the hardest loss a mother had to endure, the loss of her loving son, Eric. On the morning of June 9th, we know there was a joyous reunion and hugs abound when she was reunited with him.

Cheryth is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jon, daughters Brenda (Ron) Rowland and Melissa (Todd) Stallbaumer, grandsons Sean Klepper (Special Friend Karis Bredemeier), Justin (Kelly) Klepper, Jacob Rowland, Brady, Blake and Bracin Stallbaumer, and adopted grandson Alek Klepper. Brother, Michael Korber, many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, many loving friends.
