Beverly Wehmer Obituary

Beverly JoAnn McCoy was born to Landis and Edna (Johnson) McCoy on October 5, 1932 in Tecumseh, Nebraska.  She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1951.

She was united in marriage to Gaylord Wehmer on April 25, 1951.  To this union three children were born, Gail, Steven and Lori.  Beverly taught at a country school while Gaylord served in the military.

They made their home on a farm five miles south of Crab Orchard where they raised their family.  Gaylord and Beverly enjoyed traveling all across the United States and in later years loved to go to Branson, Missouri.  They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2016.   They were season ticket holders for Nebraska volleyball, and men’s and women’s basketball for many years.   Gaylord and Beverly were members of the Lewiston Methodist Church and later the Tecumseh United Methodist Church.  Beverly had a ready smile for everyone and was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She also worked at Gold Crest Retirement Center in Adams for a number of years while her mother was a resident.

Beverly sewed clothing for her children as they were growing up and also doll clothes.  She raised a large garden and did a lot of canning.  Beverly truly loved being a homemaker and farmwife such as taking lunch to the guys in the field.  She planted many flowers around home and enjoyed keeping up the landscape around the house.  Beverly took classes in pottery and ceramics and also did embroidery.  She was an excellent cook and will be fondly remembered for her peanut butter cookies and her pies. In her later years Beverly enjoyed being a member and socializing with the Red Hatters.
