Anthony "Tony" Edward Tesar

May 5, 1940 ~ December 14, 2018 (age 78)

Anthony “Tony” Edward Tesar was born May 5, 1940 in Sidney, Nebraska to Harry and Loretta Tesar.   His first ten years were spent at Lodgepole, Nebraska.  At age ten, Tony’s family moved to Pomona, Kansas.  Tony attended Pomona High School, where he played football and pranks, enjoying the latter more than the former. He graduated with the class of 1958.  After high school, Tony joined the Marines. He served proudly from 1959-1964 including deployment to Vietnam.

After returning home, Tony worked as a pressman at the Ottawa Herald, Olathe Daily News and the Examiner newspapers. Tony enjoyed boating, fishing, his animals, gardening and nature. He loved cracking jokes and he never met a stranger. He loved his family very much.

Tony passed away December 14, 2018 at Villages of Jackson Creek in Independence, Missouri having reached the age of 78 years, 7 months and 9 days.

He was preceded in death by his father Harry F. Tesar, mother Loretta E. Tesar, and son Mark Tesar, his father-in-law and mother-in-law George and Jean Gerdes, and a sister-in-law Alberta Cander.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-five years Peg Tesar, daughter Monique Lawson (Roger Miller), daughter-in-law Cathy Tesar, brother John (Linda) Tesar, sister Mary (Tom) Welgand, brother Glenn (Irma) Tesar, brothers-in-law Lee Gerdes and John Cander, granddaughters Chris and Megan Tesar, and  Samantha, and Andrea Stewart  and grandsons Tyler Tesar, and Jonathan Stewart as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Christ United Methodist Church, Independence, MO where Tony was a member. A second memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the United Methodist Church in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Dorothy Smith officiating.  Inurnment will follow at the Humboldt Cemetery with military honors conducted.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family’s choice with a later designation.
