Elaine Hild Obituary

Elaine Meta Rebecca (Brockhoff) Hild was born to Harry and Anna (Ludwig) Brockhoff on March 27, 1940 at home on her family farm near Avoca, Nebraska. Elaine was baptized in the Lutheran faith by Reverend Bergtrasser on April 21,1940 and confirmed by Reverend Bracher in May 1953 at the First Lutheran Church in Avoca. She attended Cottage Hill Elementary School near Avoca until eighth grade. Elaine graduated from Avoca High School in 1957.  After graduating from the Lincoln School of Commerce in Lincoln, Elaine worked for the Nebraska Health Department in the State Capitol Building.

Elaine married Kenneth Ray Hild of Cook, Nebraska on June 16, 1960.  The ceremony was performed by Reverend Scherer at First Lutheran Church in Avoca.  She then joined Kenneth in membership at St. Paul's United Church of Christ near Cook, Nebraska.  Elaine and Kenneth moved to the Hild farm south of Cook where they raised a variety of crops as well as chickens, hogs, and cattle.

Elaine and Kenneth also raised their three children, Dan, Sue, and Jim on the family farm.  Elaine enjoyed teaching Sunday School and  Bible School. She also held several volunteer positions with different organizations at the church and the kids’ school. After the kids graduated from high school, Elaine became a CNA and worked at the Good Samaritan Home in Syracuse. She also worked at Belle Terrace in Tecumseh.  Elaine proudly volunteered on the Johnson County Election Board.  Elaine and Kenneth enjoyed taking summer vacations with their family and taking bus tours with friends to many different destinations.

Elaine also enjoyed entertaining the kids and their friends for many years at the farm.  She loved to bake and serve delicious meals to family and friends. Elaine spoiled everyone with a wide variety of desserts and an endless supply of chocolate chip cookies.  You never left Elaine’s kitchen without containers of leftovers and desserts! Elaine also made every Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Anniversary, and Birthday a special celebration with a warm meal, mouthwatering desserts, amazing decorations, and giant gift bags filled with endless gifts.

After Elaine became a Grandma to Raquel and Jagger, she loved to spoil them with treats, her trademark giant gift bags, and lots of love.  Elaine loved watching her grandkids whenever possible and always planned a fun outing for them to enjoy together.  As a Grandma, she enjoyed taking the kids swimming and to the movies. She also taught them how to bake and attended their activities and events. Elaine was an incredible Grandma, and her two grandchildren loved her dearly.

Elaine and Kenneth enjoyed celebrating their anniversary every year with three other couples from Cook who had anniversaries all around the same dates.  She was a caregiver to many. Elaine cared for her parents, in-laws, and many aunts and uncles in their elder years.  She always wanted everyone to be healthy, comfortable, and happy.  Due to Kenneth's health issues, the couple moved to Lincoln in 2015. Elaine resided in Lincoln until the Lord called her Home on March 29, 2024.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Anna Brockhoff, husband Kenneth, brother and sister-in-law Harvey and Janice Brockhoff, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Elma Hild.  She is survived by her son Dan and his wife Kelly, DeBary, FL; Sue and her husband Robert Cuddeback, Lincoln, NE; Jim his wife Connie, Plattsmouth, NE and her Grandchildren, Raquel and Jagger.

                                                         To Those I Love~~

When I am gone, just release me, let me go - so I can move into my afterglow.  You mustn't tie me down with your tears; let's be happy that we had so many years.  I gave you my love, you can only guess how much you gave me in happiness.  I thank you for the love you each have shown, but now it's time I traveled on alone.  So grieve for me awhile, if grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted with trust.  It's only for a while that we must part, so bless the memories within your heart.  And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and a "Welcome Home."
