Zeno Gottula Obituary

Zeno A. Gottula, 93 of Steinauer, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Belle Terrace, Tecumseh, Nebraska. He was born on October 23, 1924 in rural Steinauer, Nebraska to Samuel and Florence (Sacher) Gottula.

He attended St. Anthony’s Grade School in Steinauer and graduated from Steinauer High School in 1943.

Zeno married Janet Fritch on June 20, 1955, and to this union 10 children were born.

He was in the Army (during the Korean War), a 65-year member of the Table Rock American Legion, a lifetime member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Steinauer, and a member of the Knights of Columbus .

Zeno started his own business, Gottula Trenching, and was self employed as a plumber and electrician.

His hobbies included gardening, fishing, mushroom hunting, deer hunting, frog catching and taking pictures.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Florence; wife, Janet; son, Alton; brothers, Justin and Paul; and sister, Theoda Bernadt.

He is survived by his children, Karen (Earl) DeBeer of Salina, KS, Marcia (Don) Borcher of Steinauer, Roxanne (Charles) Robinson of Lincoln, Luke (Teresa Kalin) Gottula of Cook, Eileen (Mark) Campbell of Wilber, Christopher (Amy) Gottula of Burchard, Renee (Nick) Boomgaarn of Table Rock, Janell (Gabriel) Ronk of Gretna and Zachary (Kendra) Gottula of Steinauer; daughter-in-law, Lynette (Mark) Tegtmeier of Burchard; sisters, Bernadette (Don) Hoeller of Glendale, WI, Dolores Johnson of Jacksonville, AR, Ethelreda Pella of Tecumseh, Mary Smith of Lincoln, Josephine Supencheck of San Jose, CA, and Rosella (Denis) Cuka of Omaha; brother, Gerard (Phyllis) Gottula of Pawnee City; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Graham of Anchorage, AK, Bonita (Dennis) Schuster of Steinauer, and Dorothy Fritch of Maysville, MO; grandchildren, Amanda Shelton, Erica Roth, Kyle Gottula, Heather Ray, Craig Borcher, Douglas and Emily Wood, Blaze, Brandon and Becky Campbell, Isaac, Olivia, Madolyn, Emalyse and Vanessa Gottula, Aiden, Kenley and Aslyn Ronk, Harley Reyes, Bentley and Casin Gottula, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 29, 2018 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Steinauer, Nebraska with Father Michael Christensen officiating. Rosary: Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 8:00 p.m., at St. Anthony’s. Visitation: Sunday, January 28, 2018 from noon-6 p.m., with family greeting friends from 4-6 p.m.at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska.
