Wayne Lee Rausch, 91, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on March 23, 1926, on a farm northeast of Humboldt, Nebraska to Albert and Lydia (Schultz) Rausch.  He grew up on the family farm and attended Cottage country school.  Wayne attended Humboldt High School where he graduated with the class of 1944.  After graduating, Wayne served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.  He was stationed in Germany from June 19, 1945 until being honorably discharged from active duty on November 25, 1946.  After his service, Wayne was united in marriage to Vaunda Lee Wilcox on September 24, 1950, at the United Methodist Church in Table Rock, Nebraska.  The couple were proud parents of two children, Brad and Brenda.  Wayne and Vaunda returned to the family farm and made their lives growing crops and raising livestock.  He was known for having a superior herd of Black Angus cattle, that continues on today.  Wayne and Vaunda moved into town, but NEVER actually retired.  Wayne was actively involved in the family farm as long as he was able.  He was a 75-year member of the Humboldt United Methodist Church where he served in numerous offices.  Wayne was also a longtime member of Harvey-Mann Legion Post #269, Farm Bureau, Southeast Nebraska Cattleman’s Association, and was a 4-H leader for many years.  He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge #34 for over 50 years and also a member of the Crescent Rebekah’s Lodge #100 for 30 years.  Wayne was always involved in his community, but his pride and joy were his grandchildren.

Wayne passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017, at the Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of ninety-one years and seven months. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Dorothy (Forrest) Day, and an infant brother.
