 Virginia F. Gottula was born to Ray and Martha (Wiler) Ribble on April 5, 1927 in Liberty, Nebraska. She was often better known as “Virg” to friends and family.

   She grew up with her family and attended Liberty Public School until she was 12 and her father transferred to Table Rock with the C. B & Q Railroad.  She then went to high school in Table Rock, graduating with the Class of 1944.  After high school, Virginia worked for several years as a clerk in the grocery store in Table Rock and enjoyed meeting people as they came in to buy groceries.

   Virginia was united in marriage to Reuben Gottula on January 24, 1954 at St Peter’s Lutheran Church, rural Elk Creek.   After their marriage, Virginia joined St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.   They lived on a farm near Elk Creek for many years.  In May of 1999, Reuben and Virginia sold the farm and moved to Pawnee City.  Virginia and Reuben were married for 52 years.  Reuben passed away November 16, 2004. In 2005, Virginia allowed medical students to room at her home which she enjoyed very much. 

   Virginia also enjoyed baking and giving to others, friends, family and businesses all loved her cinnamon rolls, brownies and chocolate chip cookies.   When her health declined, Virginia became a resident of the Pawnee Manor (Premier Estates).   She passed away there on December 1, 2016 at the age of 89 years.

   Virginia is survived by her daughter, Linda Moran, son, Steven Gottula and wife Jean both of Lincoln, 2 granddaughters, Virginia Moran and husband Dave Collins and sons, David and Jacob Heinrich and Tia Miller and husband Reed and family, step-granddaughter, Angie and husband Jaron, and daughters, Kylah, Asha and Olivia, step grandson, Lucus Meints and wife Jenna and sons, Conner and Parker, several nieces and nephews and many friends.

  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Reuben, son-in-law, John Moran, sister, Thelma Weston, brothers, Mel Housley and wife Juanita of Gig Harbor, WA and Donald Housley of Silver Spring, MD.                                       

   Graveside memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Elk Creek, Nebraska with Rev. Robert Schermbeck officiating.    A register book will be available for signatures at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska on Friday, December 2, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.     In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to Diabetes Association, Pawnee City Medical Foundation or the Premier Estates.    Inurnment will be in the St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Elk Creek, Nebraska. Online condolences may be left @ www.wherrymortuary.com.
