John “Vic” Huttenmeyer was born in Omaha on November 2, 1934. As an infant he was adopted by John H. and Emma (Overbeck) Huttenmeyer. Emma passed away in 1936.  His father married Ida Mae (Leuthold). The family lived in Humboldt, NE, Marshalltown, IA and Diller, NE.  In 1950 they moved to Tecumseh where he graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1952. Vic worked for the Soil Conservation Service operating a bulldozer doing terracing work.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1957 in Japan.  Vic briefly attended UNL and later Midland College.  Vic got his start in plumbing working for Otte Wilcox and later Willis Miller.  He worked as a Master Plumber for 51 years, many of those years in commercial construction and estimating.

He was united in marriage to Kay McFadden on July 24, 1962 at the Lutheran Church in Lexington, NE. They had four children, Brock, Susan, Jeff and Karla.  They lived in Pawnee City, NE and moved to Fort Collins, CO in 1971.  Kay passed away in 1991.   After her death, Vic returned to Tecumseh, NE to care for his parents until their passing in 1992.  He was united in marriage to Betty (Farley) Badertscher in 1995. His family grew to include his step-children, Rodney, Kimberly and Teresa.  Vic and Betty lived in Lincoln until 2007, when they returned to Tecumseh.

Vic enjoyed Nebraska Football and had an incredible memory for names of people, dates and events, especially pertaining to Tecumseh.  He loved spending time with family and friends.  His favorite traditions were the Annual 4th of July gathering and the Huttenmeyer-Beethe-Poskochil (Hu-Be-Po) Football and Chili Extravaganza the day after Thanksgiving.  Vic was a member of the VFW and American Legion.

When his health declined, Vic became a resident of Belle Terrace in Tecumseh in April of 2015.  He passed away there on November 13, 2015 at the age of 81 years.
