    Theoma Jean Damm was born to A. J. and Salome (Durst) Damm on September 17, 1932 at Elk Creek, Nebraska.  She was raised in Elk Creek and attended Elk Creek Public Schools, graduating with the Class of 1949.  She attended Nebraska Wesleyan University where she received a one-year teaching certificate. 

  She was united in marriage to Richard Montz Pope on June 29, 1951.  He passed away December 15, 2004.  She taught at Hawthorne #30 Country School.   After starting a family Theoma stayed home to raise her children.  After raising her family, she worked at the Johnson County Hospital as a lab technician and then worked many years at the Johnson County Medical Center and Tecumseh Family Physicians until her retirement. 

   Theoma was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, was past President of the Women’s Society of Christian Service and member of PEO and Friends in Council.  She was a lifelong and voracious reader and also enjoyed cooking and baking and painting.

   She passed away November 20, 2017 at Belle Terrace in Tecumseh, Nebraska at the age of 85 years.

   Theoma is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Wilson and husband David of Tecumseh, son, Phillip Andrew “Andy” Pope and wife Karen of Chadron, grandchildren, Casey Wilson, Carylnn Wilson McCoy, Mitch Pope, Drew Pope and wife Kate and Will Pope, great-grandchildren, Ensley, Norah and Kane McCoy, special friend, Clifford Lacey of Tecumseh, many nieces, nephews and cousins, brother-in-law and sisters- in-laws, Gene and Carol Pope of Tecumseh and Naomi Pope of Humboldt and many loving friends.

  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard M. Pope and sisters, Lucille Bicknell Smith and Carylnn Damm. 

   Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 27, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Pastor Rob Clark officiating. 

   A register book will be available for signatures on Friday, November 24, 2017 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska.

   Memorials in lieu of flowers may go to United Methodist Church, Tecumseh Library or the JCC Backpack Program.

   Private family inurnment will be in the Tecumseh Cemetery, Tecumseh, Nebraska.
