Shirley A (Stickney) Huff

       Shirley Ann (Stickney) was born to Roy and Agnes (Dolan) Stickney on August 16, 1938 in St. Edward, Nebraska.  She attended school there until the family moved to Milo, Missouri where she met her future husband, Harold Huff.  They later married in Harrison, Arkansas.   They lived in the Eldorado Springs, Missouri area until the family moved to Omaha, Nebraska.  Shirley and Harold then bought their acreage near Crab Orchard, Nebraska.  Harold passed away July 6, 1981.  After Harold’s death, Shirley moved to Tecumseh, Nebraska.   

  In 1985, Shirley married Joe Tichy of Humboldt.  After their marriage ended Shirley moved to Cook, Nebraska.  Later in life, Shirley attended SCC in Lincoln and received her degree in Dietary Management.  She worked as Dietary Supervisor for the Tecumseh Care Center for many years.  In her spare time, Shirley loved reading, gardening, baking, sewing, fishing, mushroom hunting, spending time with her family doing road trips and playing keno, shopping, dancing and practical jokes. 

   Shirley passed away peacefully on at her home on March 19, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.    

   Shirley is survived by her daughters, Sandy Hickey and husband Scott of Beatrice, Linda Yoble and husband Dale of DuBois and Debbie Ross and husband Don of DuBois, 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, sister, Jan Huff and husband Bill of Ralston and many nieces and nephews.  

   She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold Huff (July 6, 1981) sisters, Karen Stickney and Rose Hawley and brothers, Richard and Stanley Stickney.

   Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Chaplain Sharon Schuster officiating.

   Visitation will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska, Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 9:00 a.m.  to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m.

   Memorials in lieu of flowers may go to the family’s choice.

   Interment will be in the Vesta Cemetery, rural Tecumseh, Nebraska.
