Robert Hinks, 74, of Arcata, California formerly of Dawson, Nebraska passed away on May 8, 2015, at his home in Arcata, California. he was born on March 11, 1941 in Butte County, California to Earl M. and Mary Lorette (Baumberger) Hinks.  Robert's parents and grandparents lived in the Dawson area before the family made the move to California.  After Robert's birth the family moved back to Dawson, Nebraska.  Robert attended the Dawson Public School for grades K-12, and graduated in 1959.  During this time Bob became interested in muscle cars and could be found at his desk designing and making detailed drawings of his cars.  His senior class prophecy predicted that he would become chief designer for Ford Company.  Robert's estate in Dawson included vintage muscle cars, a Jaguar and two Mercedes, that he liked to drive.  His activities during high school included football, mixed chorus, boys glee, boy's quartet, madrigal, class plays and vocal solos.  

  Bob enrolled at Peru State College in the fall of 1959.  He majored in Business and minored in German Language.  Activities he participated in were Student Christian Fellowship Club, Business Club, Peruvian Singers, Peru Chorus, Pedagogian staff and Foreign Language Club.  In 1963, he received his BA from Peru State.   

   Robert enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in Germany.  After his service in the Air Force he was employed by the U. S. Civil Service Bureau.  He stayed on in Germany in the same field of counseling as in the Air Force.  He transferred to Colorado Springs, CO in 1980, and then retired from the Civil Service after 25 years.

   Robert moved to California where he opened a counseling and resource office.  His business provided several services such as medication management, psychology consultations, Parkinson Disease care and respite care.  While living in California, he would often fly back to Dawson to take careof his aging mother and you would see him in Dawson driving his muscle cars.  Bob also enjoyed attending the County Fair in Humboldt and came back for it also. 

   He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

  Robert is survived by his cousins, Leroy Baumberger and Ronald Baumberger of Salina, KS and other relatives and friends.  

A Graveside Inurnment will be held at 3:00 p.m. at The Heim Cemetery in Dawson, Nebraska with military honors conducted by the Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard.
