  Raymond Charles Pietzyk, 98, of Elk Creek, was born on Oct. 26, 1918 to Paul and Edith (Dohm) Pietzyk in Coleridge, Nebraska.  Raymond grew up on a ranch near Springview, NE before moving to Sterling, NE in 1941.  Raymond was a member of the military police and escort guard in the Army during WWII.  

  He was married to Lois Marrs on June 2, 1948 in St. Mary, Nebraska.  In 1952, they moved to Elk Creek where he farmed and raised livestock.  Raymond was a member of the Tracy-Bates American Legion Post #370 in Elk Creek for 60 years and longtime member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tecumseh.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards with family and friends.  He passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017 at the Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh, Nebraska.

  Raymond is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lois (Marrs) Pietzyk, children and spouses, Elaine (and the late Daniel) Gemmell of Marble Falls, TX, John (Beth) Pietzyk of Broken Bow, OK, Kathleen (Phillip) Hall of Humboldt, Beverly (and the late Dennis) Hardy of Conifer, CO, Jan (Joseph) Duran of Peyton, CO and Steve Pietzyk of Waukee, IA, grandchildren, Scott, Stephanie, Nicole and Daniel Gemmell, McKenzie and Kevin Pietzyk, Brent, Brannon, Jordan and Jerrod Hall, Morgan Duran and Moriah Pietzyk, 19 great-grandchildren, brothers, Lawrence (Lana) Pietzyk of Sterling and Leonard Pietzyk of El Paso, TX, sister, Marcella (and the late Robert) Maystrick of Papillion and many nieces and nephews and friends.  

   He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ralph (Doris) Pietzyk, Earl Pietzyk, Jim (Cathy) Pietzyk, Leo (Karon) Pietzyk, Joseph Pietzyk and sister, Mary Ann (Norman "Cab") Morrissey.  

  Mass of Christian Burial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2017 at the St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Father Craig Clinch officiating.

   Visitation will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska, Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at the church.

   Memorials may go to the family’s choice.

    Interment will be in the St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery, Tecumseh, Nebraska with military rites by the Tracy-Bates American Legion Post # 370 of Elk Creek.
