Mildred Marie Eichenberger, 100, 2 months and 10 days, of Burchard, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Premier Estates, Pawnee City, Nebraska.  She was born on November 17, 1915 to Joseph and Clair (Maguire) Dezort in Burchard, Nebraska.

As a child Mildred attended Tranquility country school, located 3 miles north of Burchard and 1 mile west.  She graduated from Lewiston High School with the class of 1934. After graduation she taught school at Golden Valley country school, District 46, east of the Burchard Lake for 2 years.

On December 26, 1935 she married Rudolph Eichenberger at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, in Nashua, Iowa.  They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in December of 1985. Four children were born to this union. Rudolph John (June 10, 1941), an infant son born and  passed away (August 16, 1942), Robert Alvin (July 2, 1943) , Arnold Leslie ( April 16, 1946), and Daniel Adolph (May 6, 1950.)

Mildred and Rudolph lived on the family farm three miles east of Burchard and 1/2 mile north all of their married life then Rudolph moved to the Pawnee Manor in the fall of 1987.  Mildred continue to live on the farm with their son Daniel until moving to the Pawnee Manor on July 29, 2015, after having lived on the family farm for almost 80 years.

Mildred will be remembered for her willingness to help out wherever she could, on the farm, at church, with her grandchildren, or wherever and whenever she was needed. She was a devoted farm wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

In Mildred’s younger years, she enjoyed raising a big garden, canning vegetables, raising chickens for meat and eggs and helping with the farming activities.  Her Christmas candies and raspberry, gooseberry, cherry and pumpkin pies were the best. 

Mildred looked forward to their yearly short vacations (usually Yellowstone).  Later in life she enjoyed her first plane trip to California with Lesa to see her sister Marge and grandson Eric and niece and nephews who lived there also.  She also greatly enjoyed her trip to Pennsylvania to see Eric & Cara get married and also enjoyed her trip to Missouri for Marla & K.C’s wedding. Closer to home, she enjoyed going to Carrie and Dan’s wedding in Talmage, Evan & Debbie’s wedding at  Salem  U.C.C. and Chad & Courtney’s wedding in Lincoln.

Mildred loved babies; she would always ask about them, even if she couldn’t remember their names.  Mildred will be greatly missed.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rudolph  (April 30, 1988) infant son, sister, Marjorie Huff and brother Leonard Dezort, daughter-in-law, Lesa Eichenberger, four sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law and one nephew.  

Mildred is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Rudy (Sharon) Eichenberger, of Magnolia, AK, Bob (Judy) Eichenberger of Talmage, NE, Arnie Eichenberger of Pawnee City, NE, Dan Eichenberger of Burchard, NE, six grandchildren and spouses: Carrie (Dan) Cyza of Fremont, NE, Chad (Courtney) Eichenberger of Lincoln, NE, Case Eichenberger of Omaha, NE, Eric (Cara) Eichenberger of Nixa, MO, Evan (Debbie) Eichenberger of Lincoln, NE, Marla (KC) Sohl of Lincoln, NE; nine get grandchildren, Jackson & Easton Cyza, Emmaleigh Eichenberger, baby Rhett Eichenberger, Tessa Eichenberger, Gavin Eichenberger, Mason Sohl and triplets, Ensley, Gage & Tyler Sohl, several nieces, nephews and friends.

Services: 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 1, 2016 at Salem U.C.C. of rural Steinauer, Nebraska. Reverend Eric Biehl is officiating. Visitation on Sunday, January 31, 2016 from Noon-8 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska.  Interment at Salem U.C.C.
