Melvin Gene Crispin Jr., 60, of Omaha, Nebraska was born on October 18, 1954, in Omaha, Nebraska to Melvin Gene and Teresa (Miller) Crispin.  He was raised in Omaha and graduated from Ryan Catholic School in Omaha, Nebraska.  As a young man, Melvin was a Golden Glove boxer competing in many different fights in the Omaha area.  He worked as a roofer for most of his life, was on the crew that roofed the Woodmen Tower and also did various construction jobs as well.  Melvin’s true love in life was his family.  He was a caring son, father, brother, and uncle who involved himself in the ever changing lives of his family.  “Uncle Mel”, as he was known to family and friends, was a constant presence at all family birthdays, weddings, and holiday events.  He brought continuous joy and smiles to all who were blessed to know him.  Melvin will be deeply missed by all, but his legacy and influence on the lives he graced will last a lifetime.

Melvin passed away surrounded by his loving family and friends on Saturday evening, October 3, 2015, at the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of sixty years, eleven months, and fifteen days.  He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin Gene and Teresa Crispin; a son Joey “JoJo” Crispin, nephew Mario Eleno Becerra III.

Melvin is survived by his son Melvin Mancilla of Omaha, NE; grandchildren: Jordan James Jackman and Josiah Rae Mancilla; brothers: Llewellyn “Louie” Crispin and his wife Erin of Nebraska City, NE; Victor Daniels of Honolulu, HI; sisters: Linda Way and her husband Denny of Des Moines, IA; Mary Sue Becerra of rural Union, NE; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

 Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2015, at the Native Assembly Church at 3415 Patrick Street in Omaha, Nebraska with Pastor Paul Stewart officiating.  Visitation will be two hour prior to services at the church.  Graveside committal services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City, Nebraska.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family’s choice.
