Marcia J (Hughes) Hickey

   Marcia J. Hickey, 86, of Tecumseh, passed away October 21, 2016 at the Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh, Nebraska. She was born August 18, 1930 to George and Alice (Manley) Hughes in Syracuse, New York.  She grew up in New York and attended High School in upstate in New York.  She met Roy Hickey, Sr. in California when he was in the service.  They were united in marriage on February 3, 1962 in Elmont, California.  They later moved to Elk Creek where they raised their sons.

 Marcia worked at the Campbell Soup Company in Tecumseh, the Maple Grove Nursing Home, at Head Start in Tecumseh and briefly as a janitor for the Elk Creek School. She lived in various towns in Southeast Nebraska.   She moved to Ridgeview Towers in Tecumseh in 2015. She enjoyed activities there including playing bingo and listening to bands that came to entertain residents. Marcia enjoyed attending Mass at Belle Terrace on Fridays, loved Nebraska Football and Volleyball, collecting porcelain dolls, doing word searches and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.   

 Marcia is survived by her sons, Robert Hickey and wife Jeana of Pawnee City, George Hickey of Lincoln, Roy Hickey, Jr. of Lincoln, Steven Hickey of Tecumseh, Scott Hickey and wife Sandy of Beatrice, 16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and sister, Bunny Eseujuri of California.

 Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Chuck, Bob and Tito and sisters, Polly and Penny.  

  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2016 with Pastor LuRae Hallstrom officiating.  Visitation will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska, Monday, October 24, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 7-8 p.m. and Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. to the time of the service.  Memorials may go the family's choice.  Interment will be in the Spring Creek Cemetery, northeast of Tecumseh, Nebraska.   Online condolences may be left @ www.wherrymortuary.com.
