Louis "Jay" Stalder

Louis “Jay” Stalder, 67, of Clatonia, Nebraska was born on October 28, 1949 to Norman and Mildred (Parli) Stalder in Humboldt, Nebraska.  He attended Humboldt Public Schools, graduating in 1968. Jay graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1972 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.  He worked the family farm in Humboldt, Nebraska, for 20 years. He then returned to school, and in 1991, Jay graduated from Southeast Community College-Beatrice with an Associate’s Degree in Communications.  He worked at KWBE Radio in Beatrice from 1991 to 2008.  While at KWBE, Jay held many roles including on-air personality, program director, operations manager, and station manager. He enjoyed mentoring young journalists and found it rewarding to watch them grow into successful journalists. Jay went on to work at Southeast Community College for eight years as an instructor and instructional designer until his retirement in 2016.  Jay was active in the business community, serving as chairman of the Beatrice Area Chamber of Commerce and chairman of the East Beatrice Business Association. Jay enjoyed reading, discussing politics, gardening, and especially spending time with family and friends.

Jay passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017, in Crete, Nebraska having reached the age of sixty-seven years, three months, and twenty-three days.  He is preceded in death by his parents Norman and Mildred Stalder, mother-in-law Alice Noyd, and brother-in-law Ray Noyd.

Jay is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Jo Stalder of Clatonia, NE; four children: Gabe Stalder of Genoa, NE; Toby Stalder and husband Anton Cheng of Portland, OR; Adrienne Turzynski and husband Jacob of Minneapolis, MN; Anne Taylor and husband Andrew of Humboldt, NE; one sister, Jean Vondras and husband John of Scottsdale, AZ; seven grandchildren: Edith and Beatrice Cheng of Portland, OR; Grace MacDonald (daughter of Andrew Schuerman and Jim MacDonald) of Kansas City, MO; Evan, Alice and Isaac Turzynski of Minneapolis, MN; Sophia Taylor of Humboldt, NE; sister-in-law, Mary Olexo of Lincoln, NE; brothers-in-law: Larry (Cheryl) Noyd of Rogers, NE; Terry Noyd of Stromsburg, NE; Perry (Sharon) Noyd of Stromsburg, NE; John (Janice) Noyd of Rogers, NE; Gary (Jan) Noyd of Shelby, NE; Benny (Sue) Noyd of Bethany, MO; and many nieces and nephews.  


Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at The Four-Mile Congregational Church south of Humboldt, Nebraska with Lana Lyken officiating.

Interment will be at The Four-Mile Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to The Four-Mile Cemetery.
