Lewis Rogers

Lewis Rogers, 69, of Pawnee City, Nebraska, passed away suddenly on January 13, 2018 in Pawnee City. He was born on January 6, 1949 in Pawnee City to Donald Lewis Rogers and Luella (Kroemer) Rogers. 

Lewis grew up in Pawnee City, attending Gravel Hill school and graduating from Pawnee City High School in 1967. He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1971 with a degree in Ag Education. He then taught for two years at Omaha North, Benson, and Northwest Schools, and worked one summer at the Omaha Public Schools' Farms with two Ag teachers from Oklahoma, who he kept in touch with over the years.

Lewis married Linda Martin on December 27, 1972. They moved back to the farm outside of Pawnee City in 1973, where they continued to reside for 40 years. 

Lewis enjoyed participating in community activities such as Jaycees softball, the Pawnee Golf Club, and served on the Pawnee County Fair Board. He loved spending time working on projects, including building garages and shops, and roofing, but pouring concrete, not so much. He enjoyed working on these projects with his usual crew of Denton Stitt, Bob Miller, Terry Borcher, and others. 

Lewis really loved his grandkids, and was always concerned with whether they were warm enough. He always made sure they had a hat and coat on. 

He enjoyed vacationing in the summer, and always had it all planned out. Lewis liked to cover a lot of ground, wanting to get at least 600 miles in a day. 

Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Donald & Luella Rogers, and Son, Chet Lewis. 

He is survived by Linda, his wife of 45 years, daughter Katherine (Jarred) Adkins, son Nick (Brittany) Rogers and grandsons Ryan Howell and Reid Lewis, brothers Roy (Sue) Rogers and Bruce Rogers, sister Mary Jane Rogers, and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. 

Services 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church/Christian Church, Pawnee City, Nebraska. Reverend Duane Westing.  Visitation on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska.  Interment at the Pawnee City Cemetery, Pawnee City, Nebraska.  Memorials to family choice.  On line condolence may be left at www.wherrymortuary.com
