Leland Kent DeJonge, 63, of rural Humboldt, Nebraska was born on October 1, 1951, at the Holman Hospital in Humboldt, Nebraska to Ommo and Marilyn (Bucher) DeJonge.  Leland was raised on the family farm in Nemaha County, Nebraska where he attended Bratton Union Consolidated Schools and later graduated from Southeast Consolidated High School with the class of 1969.  On July 23, 1970, Leland enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country until being honorably discharged on July 19, 1974.

On December 31, 1987, Leland was united in marriage to Deana Binning in Fairfax, Missouri.  He married into a family of 5 children that he raised and loved as his own.  The couple lived near Humboldt while Leland was employed as a Millwright working at different Power Plants.  Leland was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Humboldt and a devoted husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Leland passed away on Monday, September 14, 2015, in rural Humboldt, Nebraska 17 days after his wife Deana lost her battle with cancer.  He reached the earthly age of sixty-three years, eleven months, and thirteen days.  Leland was preceded in death by his wife Deana, a brother David DeJonge, brother-in-law Roger Binning, and sister-in-law Brenda Binning.

Leland is survived by his parents Ommo and Marilyn DeJonge of Humboldt, NE; a brother Alan DeJonge and his wife Joyce of Johnson, NE; children: Deanna Beatty and her husband Jeff of Auburn, NE; Bill Binning of Fort Worth, TX; Angela Lamb and her husband Les of Fort Worth, TX; Mike Clemon and special friend Kindra Moudry of Olivia, MN; Christopher Clemon of Omaha, NE; sisters-in-law: Rebecca Jones and her husband Rick of Brownville, NE; Debra Henning and her husband Jerry of Westboro, MO; Cheryl McMurray and her husband Craig of Goldfield, IA; 11 grandchildren; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at The Faith Lutheran Church in Humboldt, Nebraska with Reverend Jonathan Rathjen officiating.

A register book will be available to sign on Monday, September 21, 2015, at The Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt, Nebraska.

Inurnment will be at the Humboldt Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Nebraska Funeral Honor Guard.
