Lawrence Wayne Troxel of Pawnee City, Nebraska, left this world on June 14, 2016 surrounded by his family.  Lawrence was born on September 28, 1933 at home in Custer County, Nebraska to Plin Samuel “Sam” and Sarah Jane “Sadie” (Mason) Troxel.  

Lawrence spent his early years helping on the family farm by feeding chickens, gathering eggs, and milking cows.  He attended school at Westerville, NE until they family moved to Anselmo, NE.  Lawrence graduated from Anselmo High School in 1952.   As a young adult, he worked on several ranches in the area.  Lawrence joined the Nebraska National Guard in March of 1952, serving until February of 1953 when he enlisted in the United States Navy - Airborne Division.  Lawrence also served as a Private in the United States Army from November of 1957 to November of 1958, receiving an honorable discharge.

On March 22, 1959, Lawrence was united in marriage to Mildred “Millie” Altha Ashman in Burwell, Nebraska.  To this union five children born.  

Lawrence held a variety of jobs during his adult life, including working as a ranch hand, a mechanic for the Chevrolet dealership in Burwell, NE and the International-Harvester dealership in Loup City, NE.  Lawrence also served with the Gothenburg City Police in Gothenburg, NE.  He spent the later years of his working life driving a tractor-trailer over the road for various local companies.  Lawrence retired from Keim Transportation of Sabetha, Kansas in 1995. 

Lawrence greatly enjoyed riding motorcycles and hunting, especially deer.  He also enjoyed reading western novels, playing cards with his family and friends, watching Wheel of Fortune, and picking on anyone that he could.

Lawrence in survived by his wife, Millie, children: Monte (Tina) Troxel, Terry (Lisa) Troxel, Teresa (Doug) Hinrichsen, Sam (Violet) Troxel, and Cindy (Eric) Eden, Grandchildren: Chris Jennings, Chris Burchell, Colt and Logan Troxel, Correy and Cody (Fawn) Hinrichsen, Cheyenne (Ryan) Weaver, Jessica Vanderburg, Jonathon and Plynn (Brittany) Troxel, Kaylee (Adam) Gibson, and Chyenne Eden, 6 great grandchildren, and sister Sharon “Kay” (Steve) Land.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard Troxel, granddaughter Cassidy Troxel, daughter-in-law Pam (Boen) Troxel, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Celebration of Life and Inurnment at the Humboldt Cemetery at a later date.
