Kenneth Ray John Hild, 81, of Cook, passed away September 7, 2016 surrounded by family in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Kenneth Ray John Hild was born December 8, 1934 at Cook, Nebraska in Johnson County to Harry and Elma (Damme) Hild.  He was baptized January, 1935 at his parent's home by Rev. J.M. Hertel and confirmed April 10, 1949 by Rev. Theodore Pfundt at the St. Paul's United Church "Osage" Cook, Nebraska, where he has been a lifelong member.  Kenneth attended School District #64 until eighth grade and then attended Cook High School where he graduated in 1952.

After graduation he worked at the Mead Plant in Mead, NE for a few months and then joined the U.S. Navy where he served four years.  After he returned from the Navy in 1957 Kenneth returned to the farm and farmed with his dad and took over the farm when his dad retired.  He raised crops and livestock until he retired in 2001.

He was united in marriage with Elaine Brockhoff of Avoca, NE on June 16, 1960 at the First Lutheran Church, Avoca, NE.  Kenneth and Elaine lived in the basement of Ella Schacht's home in Cook from June until October and then then moved out to the family farm south of Cook after his parents moved into their house in Cook.

Kenneth served two terms as church council and served on the Nemaha Valley School Board and was a member of the Cook American Legion Post #360 where he served as an officer.  He belonged to the St. Paul's UCC Osage Men's Brotherhood where he served as an officer.

After his retirement from farming, Kenneth enjoyed going to coffee in the mornings in Cook.  During the summer months he enjoyed mowing and working in his shop.  In the wintertime he enjoyed putting puzzles together and doing word search books.  Kenneth enjoyed getting together once monthly with some of his high school classmates at different restaurants.  Ken and Elaine also enjoyed celebrating their wedding anniversary with three other couples, with anniversaries on June 15, 16, 17 and 18.

Ken and Elaine took bus tours to different states and also enjoyed going to see Dan and Kelly in Atlanta, GA, going to Las Vegas with Sue and Robert and going to the Henry Doorly Zoo with Jim, Connie and grandkids, Raquel and Jagger.  He was so proud of his children and grandchildren.  He was so proud of grandchildren, Raquel and Jagger he would show pictures of them to anyone and brag about them.  While married and on the farm, Ken and Elaine had several dogs and two of them were his favorites, Angel, a border collie and Yoyo, a rat terrier.  He enjoyed life and then when his health failed the last few years he and Elaine moved to Lincoln when he started dialysis.  He also made many friends at the dialysis center with patients and the staff.
