Joann Mae (Blecha) Rose

Joann Mae (Blecha) Rose, 75, of Kansas City, Missouri formerly of Humboldt, Nebraska was born in Humboldt, Nebraska on April 28, 1941 to Ivan and Amy (Rue) Blecha.  She was raised in Humboldt where she attended grade school and later graduated from Humboldt High School with the class of 1959.

In September of 1961, Joann was united in marriage to Jack Rose in Seneca, Kansas.  To this union they welcomed a daughter Kelly on October 23, 1963 and a son Rodney in October of 1970.  Joann worked for Station Casino in Kansas City from 1995 until retirement.  She made many friends during her time there.  Joann loved her family more than anything and in her free time she enjoyed crocheting, reading, and playing at the casino herself!

Joann passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2017, in Falls City, Nebraska having reached the age of seventy-five years, nine months, and twelve days.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jack Rose, son Rodney Rose, brothers: Roger, Donnie, Dick, and Randy Blecha.

She is survived by her daughter Kelly Mattox and her husband Craig of Falls City, NE; grandchildren: Brandy Lynn Strecker and her husband Nick of Falls City, NE; Jessica Nicole Carpenter and her husband Keith of Troy, KS; Justin Craig Mattox and Emily Campbell of Falls City, NE; great-grandchildren: Jackson and Dayton Carpenter of Troy, KS; a brother Gene Blecha of Humboldt, NE; a sister Lou Ann Iliff and her husband Greg of Humboldt, NE; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at The Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Howard Blecha officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017, at The Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt, Nebraska. 

Inurnment will be at The Bohemian National Cemetery south of Humboldt at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family’s choice with a later designation.
